In the Wake of Policy Changes to Medicaid and SNAP, Pyx Health is Utilizing AI to Scale Human-Centric Resources and Support to Members
Healthcare member activation company, Pyx Health, today announced the launch of its AI-powered Continuous Activation Platform (CAP), created to enhance and expedite care navigation, motivating members to take control of their own health via Pyx Health’s mobile app. The new platform will ease digital access to health resources, provide interactive, supportive tools to navigate complicated processes like fulfilling work requirements, and serve the most up-to-date and relevant community connections. For Pyx Health members, the innovation makes it easier to access health support resources whenever and wherever they need. And behind the scenes, this same AI-powered navigator helps human care coordinators more rapidly identify member needs and surface relevant interventions in real time.
The introduction of the Continuous Activation Platform comes at a time of heightened change and complexity for many Pyx Health members, whose essential benefits, including Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), are in flux following the passing of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). With new work requirements, which include proof of 80 hours of work, school, or volunteering per month for both Medicaid and SNAP, millions of Americans may lose their access to health insurance and food-related benefits as they lack the resources to understand, navigate, and ensure compliance. Compounded by the recent government shutdown, knowing where to get help for things like transportation to doctor appointments, food assistance, or housing support is more important than ever. CAP ensures these needs, which account for 80% of a person’s health, are never out of reach.
“As a result of the OBBBA, and the policy shifts that threaten to strip America’s most vulnerable groups of their benefits, we are proud to continue to advance our mission of addressing unmet social needs and closing gaps in care,” says Cindy Jordan, CEO of Pyx Health. “Through our work with Medicaid and Medicare members, I’ve seen how much stress can come from the uncertainty of not knowing where your next meal is coming from, or whether you have health insurance. And as this stress grows, self-care behaviors can often fall by the wayside, leading to prolonged poor health that will continue to cost taxpayers and the healthcare system billions of dollars. That’s why now is a more important time than ever to offer support – and our Continuous Activation Platform is helping us expand and scale it to millions more.”
Meeting members where they are in their healthcare journeys, the platform will use a sophisticated AI digital navigator to assess each member's unique needs, including emotional and mental health, while also addressing tangible insecurities like food, housing, medication access, and transportation – all of which make an immense difference in long-term health and wellness. In tandem, a human-directed AI is also built into the platform to analyze conversation patterns between its staff and health plan members, and enable human intervention when needed for the delivery of real-time redirection to relevant social health resources and plan benefits. Pyx’s Continuous Activation Platform also helps members affected by SNAP and Medicaid work requirements retain eligibility through proactive guidance and resource access.
“Pyx Health has always had tech at the forefront of its operations, but with this, we’ve never forgotten the importance of pairing our AI with human touch,” says Brijesh Patel, Head of Innovation and AI at Pyx Health. “Our AI technology was engineered to operate in a tightly scoped, predefined structure to prevent the AI from drifting outside of intended use cases, making it a preferred solution for compliance and regulatory teams.”
The launch of the Continuous Activation Platform comes on the heels of Pyx Health’s acquisition of FarmboxRx, a food-as-engagement company that is being integrated to not only offer nutritious food but to additionally open the door to provide members with the full breadth of resources and support Pyx can offer.
